Pneumatic power systems comprise any sort of mechanised or automated process or apparatus that uses pressurised gas or compressed air to drive motion. Hydraulic systems are an apparent counter-reference here, in which motion is driven by fluid held under identical compression forces within a sealed system.
The term ‘pneumatic’ refers to the delivery of power by the controlled movement of pressurized gases (including air).
